As a reaction to the scrutiny young people undergo through social media, Marksteen has created the award winning PEEL programme which works with groups of young people and uses photography and poetry to help them explore their identity and who they are rather than just focussing on what they look like.
He has been instrumental in the creation of the Build Sound Minds programme which Action for Children has implemented to raise awareness around young people’s mental wellbeing. He exhibited photographs of people he met on the streets of Cheltenham entitled ‘Cheltenham Folk’ which uncovers an inclusive and diverse character to a town famous for its horseracing and GCHQ.
Marksteen has instilled his passion for social justice into the working ethos of his creative agency ASHA. His mantra to individuals and corporates alike not to just SAY the right thing but to BE better and lead by example.
